Writer / Director

Born and raised in upstate New York, Marli Lee, began her writing career at 14 as a music journalist for The Buffalo News. As the youngest of two daughters raised by a single mom, her love for genre was born at an early age as her older sister exposed her to the films of Wes Craven and Guillermo Del Toro. After graduating from Lewis & Clark College with a degree in English Language and Literature, Marli turned to her true passion of screenwriting and directing, with a literary thriller voice reminiscent of Gillian Flynn coupled with a contemporary and genre-blending style deeply rooted in character.

In 2023, she wrote, directed and produced the horror short film, KNOCK KNOCK, which premiered at the Sitges Fantastic Film Festival the same year. She is currently in active development on her original screenplay BITTEN, a psychological horror film, with director Bertie Ellwood (THE GREAT, HAWKEYE, LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY) producing; THE QUEEN, a Linda Taylor biopic starring Halle Berry with Lee Daniels Entertainment producing; and ALL OF US MONSTERS, a pulsating thriller that will be her directorial debut.
